LEADERSHIP
Demetre Coles
President
Demetre was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut. He is a founding member of Waterbury
Strong and has served as president since 2020. Demetre is currently a graduate student at Central
Connecticut State University and Post University. Currently, Demetre works in the nonprofit
sector working to end homelessness in Connecticut. Prior to serving as president and the creation
of Waterbury Strong, Demetre served as a mentor through AmeriCorps and the BAGS
Foundation serving “at-risk” youth. Demetre believes that Waterbury Strong will be an
established entity and source of power for the Black Community in Waterbury for years to come.

Jessica Ervin
VP of Marketing and Communications
Jessica, a Waterbury native, is an entrepreneur, advocate and activist.
Jessica is a graduate of the University of New Haven with a B.S. in Criminal Justice- Juvenile and Family services and has 7+ yrs of experience working with underserved populations.
