Waterbury Strong seeks to increase the display of cultural art and symbolism of the Black culture within the Central Business District of Waterbury.

Waterbury Strong seeks to rethink and develop new mechanisms for public safety procedures to better serve the Black community.

ENVIRONMENTAL STABILITY

Waterbury Strong seeks to end environmental injustices that create great disparities and vulnerability in communities of color.

President

Demetre was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut. He is a founding member of Waterbury
Strong and has served as president since 2020. Demetre is currently a graduate student at Central
Connecticut State University and Post University. Currently, Demetre works in the nonprofit
sector working to end homelessness in Connecticut. Prior to serving as president and the creation
of Waterbury Strong, Demetre served as a mentor through AmeriCorps and the BAGS
Foundation serving “at-risk” youth. Demetre believes that Waterbury Strong will be an
established entity and source of power for the Black Community in Waterbury for years to come.

Jessica, a Waterbury native, is an entrepreneur, advocate and activist.


Jessica is a graduate of the University of New Haven with a B.S. in Criminal Justice- Juvenile and Family services and has 7+ yrs of experience working with underserved populations.
